Measurements are width by length.
Door panels and sidelights have rod pockets and headers at the top and bottom. They are mounted with flat curtain rods to hold the curtain close to the door.
Sidelights are used on the narrow panels usually found beside the door.
The measurements are from rod to rod (where the tension is), the header above and below the rod is not included in the size.

Sash Rods are recommended as they hold the curtain
close to the surface.
